Maar de eigenaar van de hond verdedigde zijn hond; het zou de liefste hond van de wereld zijn en geen vlieg kwaad doen. Om het ongeloof weg te nemen demonstreerde hij dit door zijn lid tevoorschijn te halen, deze in de bek van de hond te leggen om vervolgend de hond op de kop te slaan. En geen schrammetje! "Zie je nu wel" riep de man triomfantelijk. "Wie durft dit ook?"
Maar niemand gaf antwoord. De man herhaaldde zijn vraag, en drong nog eens aan.
Een oud dametje tenslotte stak haar hand op, en kwam naar voren. "Ik wel" zei ze, "maar dan moet je me niet zo hard op m'n kop slaan"...
